Particle repositioning manoeuvre for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Add G700 when it is the only reason for the visit.
What it covers
G403 is a particle repositioning manoeuvre (such as the Epley manoeuvre) to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, listed under Otolaryngology in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures (J97).
Procedures in this section are payable in addition to a consultation or assessment unless they are listed as included in it (J3).
Billing rules
- Marked (+): when the manoeuvre is the sole reason for the visit, add G700, once per visit however many (+) procedures are done (J3, J97).
- G700 is not payable in hospital, is paid at 15% of its fee for patients enrolled to a capitation-based group, and is not payable when you are also paid a consultation or assessment that day and have a financial interest in the facility (J3).
- When you also assess the patient at the visit, bill the assessment and G403; G700 doesn't apply, because the procedure isn't the sole reason for the visit (J3).
- Not payable on the same day as a counselling service by the same physician; G403 isn't among the listed exceptions (GP58).
Often billed with
- A007 or A003 when the vertigo is assessed at the same visit (A4, J3).
- G700 when the manoeuvre is the only reason for the visit (J3).
- FHO: Q012A with an A007 or A003 for an enrolled patient in evening and weekend hours or on a holiday; the after-hours premium is on the assessment, not on G403 (Agreement p.68 §8.12).
