Prostatic massage. Add G700 when it is the only reason for the visit.

What it covers

G476 is prostatic massage, listed under Urology in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures (J115). Procedures in this section are payable in addition to a consultation or assessment unless they are listed as included in it (J3).

Billing rules

  • Marked (+): when it is the sole reason for the visit, add G700, once per visit however many (+) procedures are done (J3, J115).
  • G700 is not payable in hospital, is paid at 15% of its fee for patients enrolled to a capitation-based group, and is not payable when you are also paid a consultation or assessment that day and have a financial interest in the facility (J3).
  • When you also assess the patient at the visit, bill the assessment and G476; G700 doesn't apply then (J3).
  • Not payable on the same day as a counselling service by the same physician; G476 isn't among the listed exceptions (GP58).

Often billed with

  • An assessment of the presenting problem at the same visit (J3).
  • G700 when the massage is the only reason for the visit (J3).
