What it covers
HIV primary care is primary care of a patient infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It is billed in units of ½ hour or major part (A50, GP55).
Billing rules
- If you bill any other consultation or visit for the same patient the same day, K022 is included in that service and is not paid separately (A50).
- Units: 1 unit = at least 20 minutes, 2 units = 46, 3 units = 76, 4 units = 106, then every 30 minutes more (A50, GP55).
- Record start and stop times in the chart, or the service is not eligible for payment (GP7).
- May be given by video or phone as comprehensive virtual care with K300A or K301A; by phone it pays 85% (AJ1, A70).
- FHO: not on the in-basket list (Agreement Schedule 2, p.79).
Often billed with
- E080 first visit after hospital discharge, office or home, within 2 weeks of an acute in-patient discharge (GP28).
- K300A or K301A when the visit is by video or phone (A70).
