Non-stress test in a high-risk pregnancy, with trace interpretation, discussion and a written report. Maximum one per patient per day.

What it covers

P025 is the non-stress test under High Risk Pregnancies in the Obstetrics section (K10). It must include interpretation of the trace, discussion with the patient and a written report kept in the patient's permanent medical record, and may include applying the fetal monitor and data acquisition (K10).

When the optional parts (applying the monitor, data acquisition) are done, they are included in the fee (GP4, K10). It is marked #, so premises and equipment for the test aren't included (K1).

Billing rules

• Payable only for high-risk pregnancies (K10).
• Maximum one per patient per day (K10).
• All three required elements must be done: interpretation of the trace, discussion with the patient, and a written report in the permanent record (K10).
• Detention is not payable with obstetrics (GP31).

Often billed with

• P030 cervical ripening and P023 oxytocin infusion when labour is induced, each under its own limits (K2, K10).
