Billing rules
- Composite operations (for example anterior and posterior repair with D&C, or with cauterization of the cervix and biopsy) are paid at the fee for the major procedure(s) only (V1, rule 1).
- With a hysterectomy, bill S758 (anterior and posterior repair) or S759 (anterior or posterior repair) instead (V8).
- Anti-prolapse procedures are not payable with combined abdominal-vaginal sling procedures for stress incontinence (V4, rule 1).
- More than one procedure under the same anaesthetic (or within 14 days in the same admission for the same condition): the major procedure is paid in full and the others at 85% (SP2, §3).
- The surgical fee does not include the major pre-operative visit (where the decision to operate is made), which is billed separately; the surgeon can't bill the hospital admission assessment unless it is that visit (SP2, §1).
- After a previous hysterectomy, vault prolapse repair by vaginal approach (which may include enterocoele and A&P repair) is S722, or S812 if repeat (V3).
- Assistant and anaesthesia: 8 basic units each (V3).
