First-day fee for resuscitation of a patient with a major burn, covering constant or periodic attendance after the initial assessment.

What it covers

Z180 pays for the first day of being in constant or periodic attendance after a major burn, providing all aspects of resuscitation (M12). It follows the initial assessment and includes later assessments, ongoing monitoring and intervening as needed (M12).

A major burn is, for example, more than 20% TBSA in an adult (10 to 50 years), more than 10% in a patient 9 or younger or 51 or older, or more than 5% full thickness at any age. It also includes, at any size, a high-voltage burn, known inhalation injury, deep burns to the face, eyes, ears, genitalia, hands, feet or joints, or significant associated injuries (M11).
