Billing rules
- A Z-code is an independent operative procedure: if your major pre-operative visit was in the past 12 months, only a minor assessment (family physicians) or partial assessment (specialists) is payable before it that day; if the major pre-op visit is the same day, no other assessment before it is payable (SP4 §13).
- When no anaesthetic is needed, claim the local anaesthetic listing (SP5 §19); an anaesthetic or block you give for your own procedure is not payable, except G224 for a post-op pain block lasting over 4 hours (SP5 §20).
