- Description
- Assessment paid at full fee - patient sent to hospital
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
EE explains a payment: the assessment was allowed at the full fee because the patient went on to hospital. Usually nothing to fix.
What it means
EE appears on the Remittance Advice (RA) when OHIP allows an assessment at the full fee because the patient was proceeding to hospital. It explains the payment. It is not a rejection.
How to fix it
- Check the amount paid on the line against what you billed.
- If it was paid as expected, there is nothing to do.
- If you think the payment is wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.
Don't resubmit if
- The claim is already on your RA. A new claim for the same service will be treated as a duplicate. Use an RAI instead.
How APEX handles it
