Routine hospital visit by the orthopaedic consultant when the family physician stays MRP and asks for continued directive care.
What it covers
C068 is the Orthopaedic Surgery (06) concurrent care visit (A164). Concurrent care is any routine assessment in hospital by the consultant after the consultant's first major assessment, when the family physician remains the most responsible physician but asks the consultant to keep giving directive care (GP48).
Billing rules
- Maximum 4 per week in the first week of concurrent care, then 2 per week. Visits over the limit are not payable (GP48).
- The family physician must remain the MRP and request your continued care (GP48).
- For emergency calls and other special visits to in-patients, use the General Listings (A-prefix) and special visit premiums instead (A164, GP65–GP78).
- Not a virtual care code: C068 isn't in Appendix J (AJ1–AJ3).
Common rejections
- AM1: OHIP describes this as 'Service limit exceeded': more concurrent care visits than allowed: 4 in the first week, then 2 per week (GP48).
