Uveitis and ocular inflammatory disease consultation for a hospital in-patient, under the same conditions as A930.
What it covers
The in-patient version of A930, subject to the same conditions (A162).
Only for a patient with a uveitis, ocular inflammatory or orbital inflammatory disorder, by an ophthalmologist with fellowship training in uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, with a dilated fundus exam and analysis of lab and imaging studies documented (A154).
Billing rules
- Same conditions as A930: fellowship training, qualifying diagnosis, and required documentation (A162, A154).
- Consultation rules and limits apply (GP16–GP18).
- In-patient rules apply (GP40–GP48). For emergency calls and other special visits to in-patients, use the general listings (A-prefix) and special visit premiums instead (A162).
- Age premiums for patients under 16 apply (GP64).
- Not listed in Appendix J, so not payable as a virtual service (AJ1–AJ2).
Common rejections
- ARF: The claim is missing the referring provider's number. A consultation needs a written request that names the referring physician or nurse practitioner and their billing number (GP16).
