Add-on to an endoscopy fee for endoscopic ultrasound using a radial or linear probe passed through the endoscope.

What it covers

E800 is a radial or linear ultrasound probe passed through the endoscope, added to the endoscopy fee (S6).

When the exam includes the biliary and/or pancreatic system, bill E801 instead (S6).

Billing rules

  • Add-on to the endoscopy fee (S6).
  • E800 pays zero when billed with E801 (S6).
  • Marked #: premises, equipment, supplies and staff are funded by the hospital budget or ICHSC facility costs, and patients can't be charged for them (GP13).
  • Under-16 age premiums (10–30%) apply to surgical procedures in Parts K to Z (GP64).

Often billed with

  • An upper or lower GI endoscopy code such as Z399 or Z527 (S6).

Common rejections

  • ADF: OHIP describes this as 'Corresponding Procedure Invalid, Omitted or Paid at zero': the base procedure (endoscopy fee) is missing from the claim, invalid, or paid at zero. Add-ons are payable only with their base code.
