What it covers

E803 is dilation of a stricture through a linear or radial echo-endoscope (S6).

Billing rules

  • Add-on under the linear or radial echo-endoscope listings, S236 (excluding biliary/pancreatic exam) or S237 (including it) (S6).
  • S236 pays zero when billed with S237 (S6).
  • Upper or lower GI endoscopy with S236 or S237 pays zero unless needed because of limited visualization with the echo-endoscope (S6).
  • Marked #: premises, equipment, supplies and staff are funded by the hospital budget or ICHSC facility costs, and patients can't be charged for them (GP13).
  • Under-16 age premiums (10–30%) apply to surgical procedures in Parts K to Z (GP64).

Often billed with

  • S236 or S237 (S6).

Common rejections

  • ADF: OHIP describes this as 'Corresponding Procedure Invalid, Omitted or Paid at zero': the base procedure (S236 or S237) is missing from the claim, invalid, or paid at zero. Add-ons are payable only with their base code.
