Add-on when a listed nasal procedure, epistaxis treatment, tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy is done with a flexible endoscope.

What it covers

E839 is added when the base procedure is done with a flexible endoscope. The Schedule lists it with nasal polyp (Z304), single biopsy (Z309) and foreign body removal under local (Z311) (P1), epistaxis cautery or packing (Z314, Z315, Z316) (P4), and tonsillectomy (S063) or adenoidectomy (S065) (S2).

Billing rules

• Payable only with Z304, Z309, Z311, Z314, Z315, Z316, S063 or S065 (P1, P4, S2).
• When flexible endoscopy is the only operative procedure, bill Z296 instead (P1).
• Surgical procedures on children under 16 get the age premium (10–30% by age) (GP64).

Often billed with

• Z304 nasal polyp, Z309 biopsy or Z311 foreign body (P1).
• Z314, Z315 or Z316 epistaxis treatment (P4).

Common rejections

• ADF: OHIP describes this as 'Corresponding procedure invalid, omitted or paid at zero': the add-on was billed without a paid Z304, Z309, Z311, Z314, Z315, Z316, S063 or S065 on the same claim.
