What it covers

G371 is billed with G370 for each additional bursa, joint, ganglion or tendon sheath injected and/or aspirated, to a maximum of 5 (J53). G370 covers the first site.

Additional complex joints that are aspirated are billed as G329 with G328, not as G371 (J53).

Billing rules

  • Billed only with G370: one G371 per additional site, to a maximum of 5 (J53).
  • Only one of G370, G371, G328 and G329 per bursa, joint or complex joint (J53).
  • Not payable with a surgical procedure on the same site or area (J53).
  • Olecranon bursa aspiration and/or injection is billed only as G370/G371 (J53).
  • Uninsured for injection of intra-articular viscosupplementation agents such as hyaluronic acid (J53).
  • E542 is printed as an add-on to G370 and G328, not to G371 (J53). G371 isn't marked (+); the G700 sole-visit premium comes through G370 (J3, J53).
  • Not payable in addition to a facet or sacroiliac joint injection from the interventional pain section for the same injection procedure (J74).
  • FHO: a Schedule 2 core service (Agreement p.77) and a Schedule 4 office procedure for the office procedures special payment (Agreement p.67 §8.7, p.93). Schedule 4's description says 'to a max of 3', but the Schedule of Benefits limit is 5 (J53).
