Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Giving an oral polio or rotavirus vaccine. Add G700 when it's the only reason for the visit.

What it covers

G462 pays for administering an oral polio or rotavirus vaccine (J54). Injected vaccines have their own immunization codes on the same page, such as G840 (DTaP-IPV) and G841 (DTaP-IPV-Hib) (J54).

Billing rules

  • Marked (+): when the vaccine is the sole reason for the visit, add G700, once per patient per day however many vaccines or (+) procedures are given (J3, J54).
  • G700 is not payable in hospital, and is paid at 15% of its fee for patients enrolled to a capitation-based group (J3).
  • May be delegated to trained office staff, even when you aren't on site, for your own patient; the chart must name who gave it (GP62–GP63).
  • Payable on the same day as a counselling service by the same physician (GP58).
  • FHO: a core service listed in Schedules 2 and 2A and in Schedule 2B, so for enrolled patients shadow billing is 50% of the fee (Agreement p.59 §4.3–4.4, p.77, p.84, p.88).
  • FHO: the childhood immunization bonus counts enrolled patients aged 30 to 42 months who received all Ministry-supplied immunizations recommended by NACI by 30 months of age (Agreement p.65 §8.1).

Often billed with

  • G841 DTaP-IPV-Hib and G846 pneumococcal conjugate given at the same infant visit, each under its own code, with only one G700 (J3, J54).
  • A007 well baby care; G700 isn't added then, because the vaccine isn't the sole reason (A4, J3).
  • K013 counselling the same day (GP58).
  • Q132A, the childhood immunization tracking code, billed with a zero fee to record that the childhood immunizations are complete (OMA Q-codes guide p.17–18).
