Attendance at a delivery by a non-paediatrician to care for a baby expected to be at risk, including an assessment of the newborn.

What it covers

H007 is constant attendance at the delivery of a baby expected to be at risk, by a physician who is not a paediatrician. It includes an assessment of the newborn (A13).

When an obstetrician routinely transfers newborns to another physician, that physician may claim newborn care plus attendance at maternal delivery (H007) for a well baby, or a general assessment plus H007 plus daily visits for a sick baby (K3).

Billing rules

  • Requires constant attendance at the delivery; the baby must be expected to be at risk (A13).
  • Only for a physician who is not a paediatrician (A13).
  • Not payable if you render any other service at the time of the delivery (A14).
  • A routinely transferred newborn is not a consultation (K3).

Often billed with

  • H001 newborn care for a well baby you take over (K3).
