Rehabilitation counselling by a physiatrist for one or more people, billed per half-hour unit.

What it covers

Rehabilitation counselling of one or more persons, listed under Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (31); a unit is half an hour or major part (A180).

Like other counselling services, it includes the counselling interaction itself, which for H313 may be with the patient's relatives or representative (GP54).

Billing rules

• Units are ½ hour or major part: 1 unit = at least 20 minutes, 2 units = 46, 3 units = 76, 4 units = 106 (A180, GP55).
• Under 20 minutes is not this service (GP55).
• Record start and stop times in the chart, or the service is not eligible for payment (GP7).
• H313 is one of the services payable the same day as counselling (K013/K033) (GP58).
• Can be done by video or telephone with an existing patient-physician relationship; add K300A (video) or K301A (telephone). Telephone pays 85% of the fee (Appendix J AJ1, A66, A70).

Common rejections

• AT3: Billed as virtual care but OHIP found no existing patient-physician relationship, such as an in-person service by you in the past 24 months (A66).
