What it covers

K711 is the nuclear medicine participant fee at a multidisciplinary cancer conference, for patients requiring a PET scan, billed per patient (A29).

An MCC is held to discuss and direct the management of one or more cancer patients, following Ontario Health's roles and standards (A29).

Billing rules

  • The MCC must be pre-scheduled and meet Ontario Health's minimum standards, including attendance; you may attend in person, by phone or by videoconference (A29).
  • Payable per patient discussed when the total discussion time meets the minimum: 10 minutes for 1 patient, 20 for 2, up to 80 minutes for 8; otherwise the number of patients paid is reduced to match the time (A29, A30).
  • Only one of K708, K709, K710 or K711 per physician per day, and no other insured service rendered during the MCC is payable (A29).
  • Not payable if you are paid other than fee-for-service (for example salary, APP or AFP) for the MCC, or to a supervising physician when a medical trainee renders it (A29, GP81).
  • Record the patients and physician participants, the total discussion time, and the outcome or decision for each patient (A29).
  • Only payable to Nuclear Medicine (63) (A29).
  • You must actively participate in the discussion, and your participation must be documented (A29).
  • Maximum 5 per patient per day (any physician) and 8 per physician per day (A29).
