What it covers
P045 is the repair of a third-degree tear or episiotomy extension. It must include repair of the perianal sphincter and perineum (K8). If the repair also involves the rectal mucosa, it is a fourth-degree repair, billed as P046 (K8).
Like other labour-delivery services, it is a # service: the fee does not include hospital-funded premises, equipment and staff (K1).
