Zero-fee code that triggers enrolment of a long-term care patient with the physician. The service date is the date on the signed enrolment form.

What it covers

Q202A is the long-term care per-patient rostering fee code. It is billed at zero, and submitting it triggers the LTC patient's enrolment in the Ministry's system (OMA Q-codes guide p.10). Appendix Q lists it for GHC, FHN and FHO (AQ3); the 2020 OMA guide says FHN and FHO only (OMA Q-codes guide p.10).

The FHO agreement doesn't name Q202A. For an Enrolled Long-Term Care Patient, meaning an enrolled patient who lives in a long-term care facility, it pays an annual LTC base rate payment for the Schedule 2A core services, conditional on extra obligations: a medication review every three months, conducting discussions about the patient with the facility's care staff, taking the facility's calls about the patient during regular weekday office hours, and on average two assessments per patient per month (Agreement p.57 §1.1(c), p.59 §4.5, p.60 §4.7).

Appendix Q is information only and not part of the Schedule (AQ1).

Billing rules

  • Submit Q202A when a long-term care patient enrols with the physician (OMA Q-codes guide p.10).
  • Bill it at zero (AQ3; OMA Q-codes guide p.10).
  • The service date must be the date on the Patient Enrolment and Consent to Release Personal Health Information (E/C) form (OMA Q-codes guide p.10).
  • Since February 1, 2013, the E/C form is kept in the office for your records, not sent to the Ministry (OMA Q-codes guide p.10).
  • Q200A is the general per-patient rostering fee code; Q202A is the one submitted when a long-term care patient is enrolled (AQ3; OMA Q-codes guide p.9-10).
