Error code
AEV — Visit only allowed
Only a visit allowed
OHIP will only accept a visit fee for this service, not the code that was billed.
What to do: Bill a visit code if one fits; if unsure why it rejected, call the Service Support Contact Centre first.
- Code
- AEV
- Description
- Visit only allowed
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
OHIP will only accept a visit fee for this service. Bill it as a visit rather than the code you used.
What it means
AEV means only a visit is allowed. The Ministry's Error Report list doesn't include AEV, so the reason it fires isn't documented.
How to fix it
- Check which code was rejected and what other codes were on the claim.
- If a visit code fits the service better, bill it instead.
- If you're unsure why the claim rejected, call the Service Support Contact Centre (1-800-262-6524) before resubmitting.
- Resubmit the corrected claim. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process described under VJ7.
Don't resubmit if
- You haven't changed the code that rejected.
How APEX handles it
APEX reads your error reports and remittance advice from MCEDT and lists claims rejected with this code in its Correction Centre for you to correct and resubmit. See how APEX works · Pricing
