B6 — Limited Virtual Care Service Already Paid
Limited virtual care already paid
A limited virtual care service (A101 or A102) was already paid for this patient, so this virtual service wasn't paid.
What to do: Compare it with the paid A101 or A102 claim; if they were the same encounter, there is nothing to fix.
- Code
- B6
- Description
- Limited Virtual Care Service Already Paid
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
OHIP didn't pay this virtual service because a limited virtual care service (A101 or A102) was already paid for this patient.
What it means
Code B6 means a virtual service was refused because a Limited Virtual Care service was already paid for the patient.
Limited Virtual Care (A101 by video, A102 by phone) is for patients with no existing patient-physician relationship (A67, A73). The Ministry's code list doesn't say which services conflict or over what period.
Common causes
- Two virtual claims for the same encounter
- Both A101 and A102 billed for one visit
- A comprehensive virtual service and a limited virtual service billed for the same encounter
How to fix it
- Compare the refused line with the paid A101 or A102 claim: date, physician and reason for the visit.
- If they were the same encounter, there is nothing to fix.
- If they were separate, medically necessary visits, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details such as your chart notes.
Don't resubmit if
- Both claims describe the same encounter.
- The claim is already on the RA and you only disagree with the decision. Use an RAI, not a new claim.
