- Code
- D1
- Description
- Initial procedure already billed - paid as repeat procedure
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
OHIP paid this procedure at the repeat-procedure fee, because the initial procedure was already claimed for this patient.
What it means
Code D1 means a procedure was paid at its repeat fee, because the initial procedure had already been claimed.
Some procedures have a separate, lower code for repeats. For example, initial acute haemodialysis (G325) is followed by acute repeat treatments (G323) (J37), and diagnostic cystoscopy (Z606) has a lower fee when repeated within 30 days (Z607) (T7).
Common causes
- The initial procedure was already billed earlier, by you or another physician
How to fix it
- Check when the initial procedure was billed for this patient.
- If this was in fact the initial procedure, for example because the earlier claim was wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details such as your chart notes.
- Otherwise, the repeat payment is correct.
Don't resubmit if
- The initial procedure was already done and paid.
