Code
D7
Description
Not allowed in addition to other procedure

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

OHIP didn't pay this procedure because it isn't allowed with another procedure billed for the patient. Check the procedure notes.

What it means

Code D7 means the procedure isn't payable in addition to another procedure already billed for the patient.

Many procedures have notes saying they can't be billed with certain others. For example, spirometry J301 or J324 isn't payable for the same patient on the same day as J304 or J327 (H4).

Common causes

  • Two procedures billed that the Schedule says can't be paid together
  • A procedure that is part of another procedure billed the same day

How to fix it

  1. Read the notes for both procedures in the Schedule.
  2. If the procedures can be billed together, or were on different days, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details such as your chart notes.
  3. Otherwise, the refusal is correct.

Don't resubmit if

  • The claim is already on the RA and you only disagree with the decision. Use an RAI, not a new claim.

How APEX handles it

APEX reads your error reports and remittance advice from MCEDT and, for many claims rejected with this code, works out the fix for you to approve before it is resubmitted. See how APEX works · Pricing
