- Description
- Other dialysis procedure already paid
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
OHIP didn't pay this dialysis claim because another dialysis service for the patient was already paid for the same period.
What it means
Code DB means another dialysis procedure was already paid for the patient.
The chronic dialysis weekly team fee is paid once per patient per 7-day period (from midnight Sunday) to the most responsible physician, and covers the professional care of all physicians in the patient's chronic dialysis. The amount payable to another physician for those services is nil. Claim the code for the main location and type of dialysis. At an auxiliary centre, G866 is paid per treatment up to 2 per 7 days (J39–J40).
Common causes
- Two weekly team fees billed for the same 7-day period
- A team fee billed by a physician who isn't the most responsible physician
- Services covered by the team fee billed separately
How to fix it
- Check which dialysis service was paid for the patient in the same 7-day period, and by whom.
- If your claim is the correct one (for example you were the most responsible physician), send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details such as your chart notes.
- Otherwise, the refusal is correct.
Don't resubmit if
- Another physician was paid the team fee as most responsible physician for that week.
