Code
DN
Description
Pudendal block allowed with procedure per OHIP policy

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

DN explains a payment: a pudendal block was allowed in addition to the procedure, per OHIP policy. Usually nothing to fix.

What it means

DN appears on the Remittance Advice (RA) when OHIP allows a pudendal block in addition to the procedure it was done with. It explains why the block was paid. It is not a rejection.

Pudendal blocks are listed as G229 (unilateral) and G240 (bilateral) (Schedule page J81). Where a bilateral procedure is done, a bilateral pudendal block counts as one service, unlike other nerve blocks, which are payable once per region per side (pages J70 and GP101).

How to fix it

  1. Check the amounts paid for the block and the procedure.
  2. If they match what you expected, there is nothing to do.
  3. If you think the payment is wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.

Don't resubmit if

  • The claim is already on your RA. A new claim for the same service will be treated as a duplicate. Use an RAI instead.

How APEX handles it

APEX reads your error reports and remittance advice from MCEDT and lists claims rejected with this code in its Correction Centre for you to correct and resubmit. See how APEX works · Pricing
