ENP — Invalid FSC for Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Code
ENP
Description
Invalid FSC for Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

ENP means the fee code isn't valid for a nurse practitioner. Check the fee code and provider or referral number on the claim.

What it means

ENP means the fee schedule code billed is not valid for a nurse practitioner (NP), so the claim was rejected.

The Ministry's error list identifies NP numbers as the range 722900 to 744292 (see AC4, where a referral from an NP number is refused for fee codes that aren't eligible for NP referral).

Common causes

  • A fee code NPs can't bill was submitted under an NP number
  • A physician's billing or referral number was entered incorrectly and fell in the NP range

How to fix it

  1. Check the provider number and referring number on the claim.
  2. Check that the fee code is one an NP can bill.
  3. Correct the claim and resubmit. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.

Don't resubmit if

  • The fee code isn't billable by a nurse practitioner.
