Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
PA3 means a billing number on the PA Pilot claim isn't affiliated with the PA Pilot group. Check the numbers, or confirm the registration.
What it means
Error PA3 means the physician number and/or the referring physician number on the Physician Assistant (PA) Pilot claim belong to billing numbers that are not affiliated with the PA Pilot group number on the claim.
Common causes
- A typing error in the physician or Refer Physician number
- The wrong group number on the claim
- The supervising physician was never registered with the PA Pilot group
How to fix it
- Check the group number, the physician number and the Refer Physician number on the claim.
- If a number was wrong, correct it and resubmit.
- If the numbers are right, the physician's affiliation with the PA Pilot group needs to be set up with the Ministry before the claim can be paid. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.
Don't resubmit if
- The physician still isn't affiliated with the PA Pilot group. The claim will reject again.
