- Code
- Q7
- Description
- No fee allowed for treatment of immediate family
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
Q7 means OHIP doesn't pay a fee for treating a member of the physician's immediate family. No correction will make this payable.
What it means
Code Q7 means OHIP paid nothing for this service because its records show the patient is a member of the billing physician's immediate family. The Ministry's message is: no fee allowed for treatment of immediate family.
Common causes
- The physician treated and billed for an immediate family member
- OHIP matched the patient to the physician's family in error (for example, a shared surname and address)
How to fix it
- Check whether the patient is a member of your immediate family.
- If so, the service can't be billed to OHIP.
- If the patient is not related to you, send an RAI explaining this. Send it through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date.
Don't resubmit if
- The patient is a member of your immediate family.
- The claim is already on your Remittance Advice. Use an RAI, not a new claim.
