SV — MRP visit not allowed during post-op period - paid as subsequent visit

Paid as subsequent visit

Your most responsible physician visit fell in the post-operative period, so it was paid at the ordinary subsequent visit fee.

What to do: Check the service date: from April 1, 2026 MRP subsequent visits and premiums are payable with the surgery, so the reduction no longer applies (INFOBulletin 260901).

Code
SV
Description
MRP visit not allowed during post-op period - paid as subsequent visit

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

SV means an MRP visit isn't allowed during the post-operative period, so it was paid at the ordinary subsequent visit fee.

What it means

Code SV means OHIP reduced this Most Responsible Physician (MRP) visit to the ordinary subsequent visit fee because it was rendered during the post-operative period.

MRP visit codes and premiums pay more than a regular subsequent hospital visit. During the post-operative period OHIP pays the visit at the subsequent visit rate instead.

Common causes

  • An MRP visit billed for a patient in the post-operative period

How to fix it

  1. Check the date of surgery and the dates of the MRP visits.
  2. Before April 1, 2026, a visit in the post-operative period was correctly reduced. From that date C122, C123, C124, C142, C143, E083 and E084 are payable with the surgery, and a medical claims adjustment will correct affected claims (INFOBulletin 260901).
  3. If you believe the visit was outside the post-operative period, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date.

Don't resubmit if

  • The claim is already on your Remittance Advice. Use an RAI, not a new claim.
