Code
TM7
Description
Dental Service not eligible for Telemedicine

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Dental services aren't eligible for telemedicine. Bill the service as delivered in person, or not at all.

What it means

TM7 ("Dental Service not eligible for Telemedicine") means a dental service was billed as a telemedicine service, which OHIP does not allow.

TM codes belong to the Ministry's telemedicine error codes (ET1 to ET5 and TM1 to TM8), which were tied to the former telemedicine program. For services on or after December 1, 2022, the virtual care funding framework replaced it: the 'OTN' service location indicator was discontinued (claims using it reject with V73) and OVCP/telemedicine B-prefix codes reject with A3E. Virtual care is now billed with the in-person code plus the K300A (video) or K301A (telephone) modality indicator, or A101A/A102A for limited virtual care.

Common causes

  • A dental service code was billed with telemedicine details
  • The wrong fee code was entered

How to fix it

  1. Check the fee code.
  2. If the service was done in person, remove the telemedicine details and resubmit.
  3. If it was delivered remotely, it isn't payable as telemedicine.

Don't resubmit if

  • The dental service was delivered remotely.
