Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
Code VS notes that the service date was a Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday. Usually informational; check any weekend premium paid.
What it means
Code VS tells you OHIP recognized the service date as a Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday. It usually appears where a payment depends on the day, such as weekend and holiday premiums. Its opposite, V4, says the date was not a weekend or holiday.
The Schedule lists the holidays and how they move when they fall on a weekend (GP3). Only codes listed as holiday premiums or services pay holiday rates.
How to fix it
- Check that the amount paid matches what you expected.
- If it does, there is nothing to do.
- If you believe the payment is wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.
Don't resubmit if
- You disagree with how a claim already on the RA was paid. Use an RAI, not a new claim.
