Limited cardiology consultation: a less demanding consultation that takes much less time than a full one but has the same requirements.
What it covers
A limited consultation is less demanding and normally needs substantially less of the physician's time than a full consultation; otherwise it has the same requirements (GP19). A675 is the cardiology limited consultation (A79).
Like any consultation, it needs a written request and a written report to the referring provider (GP16).
Billing rules
- The written, signed request must meet the GP16 requirements, or it is paid as a lesser assessment (GP16).
- Consultation limits apply (GP17, GP18).
- Patients under 16: specialist consultations get an automatic age premium (GP64).
- Video only as virtual care (Appendix J AJ2).
Common rejections
- ARF: 'Missing physician referring number': a consultation claim needs the referring provider's billing number (GP16).
- AT2: 'Must include video modality': this consultation is video-only as virtual care; it can't be billed by phone (Appendix J AJ2).
