Code
AT2
Description
Must Include Video Modality

Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

AT2 means a service that is only payable by video was billed without the K300A video indicator. Add K300A if the visit was by video.

What it means

AT2 is an Error Report rejection meaning the claim must include the video modality. It came in with the virtual care framework on December 1, 2022.

Some services exist only as video services. INFOBulletin 221203 lists the midwife-requested assessments by video (A814A, A817A, A818A) and the GP focused practice video consultations (A010A, A011A, A906A, A913A, A914A). If any of these is claimed without K300A, the claim rejects with AT2.

Comprehensive virtual care claims must carry a modality indicator: K300A for video or K301A for telephone, on the same claim and service date (A70). K300A and K301A can't both be on the claim (that is AT1).

Common causes

  • K300A left off the claim for a video-only service
  • K301A used instead of K300A
  • The in-person service was done but the video version of the code was billed (for example A814A instead of A813A)

How to fix it

  1. Check the chart for how the service was delivered. The modality must be recorded (A68).
  2. If it was by video on a platform verified by Ontario Health, add K300A to the claim with the same service date. Remove any K301A.
  3. If it was in person, bill the in-person code instead: A813A, A815A or A816A for the midwife-requested assessments, or the matching in-person consultation (A005A, A006A, A905A, A911A, A912A) for the GP focused practice codes.
  4. If it was by phone, these services aren't payable. They are video only.
  5. Resubmit the corrected claim. Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process: one stale-dated claim file through MCEDT, then an email to [email protected] with the Error Reports showing the original submission date.

Don't resubmit if

  • The service wasn't delivered by video and you'd only be adding K300A.
  • The video platform wasn't one verified by Ontario Health (A68).
  • The claim still has both K300A and K301A. It will reject with AT1.
