Follow-up visit after medical management of early or ectopic pregnancy (A920 or A922). Maximum two per patient per pregnancy.

What it covers

A921 is the follow-up visit after A920 (early pregnancy or missed abortion) or A922 (ectopic pregnancy), whether the follow-up is done by the physician who gave the initial service or by another physician (K5).

Billing rules

• Limited to two per patient per pregnancy; services over the limit are adjusted to another assessment fee (K5).
• Consultations, assessments and counselling, and procedures that are generally accepted parts of the service, are not payable to the same physician for the same patient on the same day as A921 (K5).
• Can be given by video or telephone as comprehensive virtual care, with K300A or K301A, where an existing patient-physician relationship exists; telephone pays 85% of the in-person fee (A66, AJ1, A70).
• When the same physician gave A920 by video or telephone in the past 24 months, that relationship lets the follow-up be billed as comprehensive virtual care (A66-A67).
