Explanation

Home special visit travel premium for a weekday daytime non-elective call, and the travel premium for elective home visits. Max 2 per day.

What it covers

B960 is the travel premium in Special Visit Premium Table VI, Patient's Home (other than long-term care), for non-elective visits on weekdays 07:00 to 17:00 (GP75).

It is also the travel premium for elective home visits at any time of day or week, with B990 as the elective first person seen premium (GP65, GP75).

Billing rules

  • Maximum 2 per physician per day, for any combination of non-elective and elective visits (GP75).
  • One travel premium per trip, however many patients are seen (GP66).
  • On weekday daytimes, the first person seen premium B990 is only payable when a travel premium is payable (GP66).
  • Not payable with A001 or A007 done in the home, because travel is part of those services (GP75, A4).
  • A003 general assessment isn't payable in the home (A4); bill an eligible A-prefix assessment such as A900 (GP69, A6).
  • Home includes a multiple resident dwelling such as an apartment, retirement home or group home, but not a hospital or long-term care institution (GP4).
  • The time of the visit must be in the medical record (GP69).

Often billed with

  • B990 first person seen premium (GP75).
  • A900 complex house call assessment for a frail elderly or housebound patient, payable for the first person seen at a location only (A6).
