Travel premium for a non-elective weekday daytime (07:00–17:00) home visit that made you delay or cancel booked office patients.
What it covers
B961 is the travel premium in Special Visit Premium Table VI (patient's home, not a long-term care home) for a non-elective visit on weekdays 07:00–17:00 with sacrifice of office hours (GP75).
'Sacrifice of office hours' means an unscheduled, non-elective visit that made you delay or cancel booked office patients (GP65). 'Home' means the patient's residence, including an apartment, retirement home, hotel, residence, shelter, correctional facility or group home, but not a hospital or long-term care home (GP4).
Billing rules
- Maximum 2 per time period (GP75).
- A travel premium is paid for travel from one location to another, once per trip no matter how many patients you see (GP66).
- Bill it with the A-prefix assessment from the General Listings for the visit (GP69).
- Record the time of the visit in the medical record (GP69).
- Table VI home premiums are not payable with A001 or A007 done in the home; travel is already included in those (GP75).
- Elective home visits use B960/B990 instead (GP65, GP75).
Often billed with
- B992 first person seen, weekday daytime with sacrifice of office hours (GP75).
Common rejections
- AD9: OHIP describes this as 'Premium not allowed alone': a special visit premium must be billed with an A-prefix assessment from the General Listings on the same claim (GP65, GP69).
