A dermatologist's routine in-patient follow-up visit from the 6th to the 13th week after admission, up to 3 per week.

What it covers

A subsequent visit is any routine assessment in hospital after the admission assessment (GP43).

C027 covers subsequent visits from the sixth to the thirteenth week after admission (A95).

Billing rules

• Limit: 3 per patient per week; extra visits are not payable (A95, GP43).
• After 5 weeks, a visit needed for an acute intercurrent illness beyond the limit is C121, which is outside the weekly limit (GP43).
• If the patient was referred to you in hospital, the date you first assessed them is the 'admission date' for choosing the code; if care was transferred to you, count from the actual admission date (GP43).
• If you are the MRP, add E083 (+30%), or E084 (+45%) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; dermatology (02) is eligible for E084; only one per patient per day (GP47).
• Detention (K001) starts only after 30 minutes of a subsequent hospital visit (GP30).
• Not on the Appendix J virtual care lists (Appendix J AJ1–AJ2).
