Billing rules
- Limit: one per patient per day for the first 5 weeks after admission; extra visits are not payable (GP43).
- If the patient was referred to you in hospital, the date you first assessed them is the 'admission date' for choosing the code; if care was transferred to you, count from the actual admission date (GP43).
- If you are the MRP, add E083 (+30%), or E084 (+45%) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; dermatology (02) is eligible for E084; only one per patient per day (GP47).
- Detention (K001) starts only after 30 minutes of a subsequent hospital visit (GP30).
- Seeing another physician's patient on an emergency basis uses the General Listings (A prefix), not a subsequent visit (GP43).
- Not on the Appendix J virtual care lists (Appendix J AJ1–AJ2).
Often billed with
- E083 or E084 MRP premium (GP47).
