Explanation

Routine geriatric hospital visit from the 6th to the 13th week of the stay. Maximum 3 per patient per week.
What it covers
C077 is the Geriatrics (07) in-patient subsequent visit from the sixth to the thirteenth week inclusive (A121). A subsequent visit is any routine assessment in hospital after the admission assessment (GP43).
Attendance at surgery at the patient's request without assisting, and each physician's visit when several disciplines care for a complex patient, also count as subsequent visits (GP43).
Billing rules
- Specialists bill from the Consultations and Visits listing for their own Royal College specialty on file with the Ministry, here Geriatrics (07) (GP9).
- Maximum 3 per patient per week from weeks 6 to 13; extra visits are not payable. Visits for an acute intercurrent illness beyond the limit are C121 (A121, GP43).
- If the patient was referred to you from another physician in hospital, count weeks from the date you first assessed them; if care was transferred to you, count from the actual admission date (GP43).
- When you are already in hospital and see your own patient, it's a subsequent visit; seeing another physician's patient on an emergency basis uses the General Listings (GP43).
- As MRP, add E083 (+30%), or E084 (+45%) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; only one per patient per day, and only if you are not paid by the hospital for in-patient care (or that pay is reduced) (GP47).
- Not on the Appendix J virtual care list, so it is not payable by video or phone (AJ1–AJ3).
Often billed with
- E083 MRP subsequent-visit premium, or E084 on weekends and holidays (GP47).
Common rejections
- AM1: OHIP describes this as 'Service limit exceeded': more subsequent visits than the period allows (GP43).
