Add-on to double balloon enteroscopy (Z588) for surgical time, billed per 15 minutes or major part.

What it covers

E250 pays for the surgical time spent on double balloon enteroscopy, billed per 15 minutes or major part (S15).

It is the only surgical or procedural service payable with Z588, which is otherwise all-inclusive (S15).

Billing rules

• Only payable with Z588 (S15).
• Count time units per 15 minutes or major part (S15).
• Time is the physician's direct contact with the patient for the procedure: from first attendance in the operating/procedure room until you are no longer in attendance (S15).
• Record start and stop times; for minimum-time and unit-based services, missing times mean the service is not eligible for payment (GP7).
• Marked #: premises, equipment, supplies and staff for the procedure are not included in the fee (SP1).

Common rejections

• ADF: OHIP describes this as 'Corresponding procedure invalid, omitted or paid at zero': E250 was billed without a payable Z588 for the same patient and day (S15).
