Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Acute desensitisation, for example to ATS or penicillin. A (+) procedure, so G700 applies when it is the sole reason for the visit.

What it covers

G200 is acute desensitisation to an agent such as ATS or penicillin (J4). Drug desensitisation in a hospital with full cardioresuscitative equipment, because of a significant risk of life-threatening anaphylaxis and under direct, ongoing physician attendance, is the separate code G185 (J4).

Billing rules

  • Marked (+): when procedures are the sole reason for the visit, add G700 once per visit, however many (+) procedures are done (J3, J4).
  • G700 is not payable in hospital, and is paid at 15% for patients enrolled to a capitation-based group (J3).
  • Payable in addition to a consultation or assessment (J3).
  • For hospital desensitisation where life-threatening anaphylaxis is a significant risk, bill G185 instead (J4).

Often billed with

  • G700 when desensitisation is the only reason for the visit (J3).
  • An assessment such as A007 or A001 when the patient is also assessed (J3).
