Explanation

Updated October 26, 2026

Allergy hyposensitisation visit when the injection is the sole reason for the visit; includes the first injection. One more injection may be added as G202.

What it covers

G212 is hyposensitisation when it is the sole reason for the visit, and it includes the first injection (J4). The FHO agreement lists it as 'Hyposensitisation Injection Plus Basic' (Agreement p.77).

If the patient needs a brief assessment of the allergic condition along with the injection, the Schedule says to claim the injection and the basic fee; the assessment elements are then included (J4).

Billing rules

  • One extra injection may be billed as G202 on top of the injection included in G212 (J4).
  • If the patient also has an acute infection or other unrelated problem that would otherwise need a separate visit, bill the assessment plus the injection (G202, up to 2) instead; the visit is then not injection-only (J4).
  • Insect venom immunotherapy is G205, not G212 (J4).
  • Not marked (+), so G700 does not apply (J3, J4).
  • FHO: a Schedule 2 core (in-basket) service, and in Schedule 2A for long-term care enrolled patients (Agreement p.77, p.84).

Often billed with

  • G202 for a second injection at the same visit, maximum 1 (J4).

Common rejections

  • A3H: More services were claimed than OHIP allows. G212 covers one injection-only visit including the first injection; a second injection is a single G202 (J4).
