Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
Time-based dose titration and programming of an infusion pump for advanced Parkinson's disease, billed per half-hour unit.
What it covers
K180 is a time-based, all-inclusive service to assess and optimize dosing for a patient with advanced Parkinson's disease on a continuous subcutaneous or enteral infusion (A140).
It is billed in units of ½ hour or major part; see GP7 and GP55 for definitions and time keeping (A140).
Billing rules
- Includes any consultation or assessment needed. Any other assessment by you for the same patient the same day is not payable (A141).
- Only for advanced Parkinson's disease with severe motor fluctuations (on/off periods, gait freezing, dyskinesia) not well controlled by optimized oral medications (A141).
- Limited to 4 units per patient per day and 20 units per patient per year (A141).
- Payable only to a neurologist with experience or training in managing Parkinson's disease or related disorders, and must be personally rendered (A141).
- Count only time fully devoted to the patient's care, not separately billable services or chart and imaging review; time can be non-consecutive (A141).
- Units are ½ hour or major part: 1 unit = at least 20 minutes, 2 units = 46, 3 units = 76, 4 units = 106 (GP55).
- Record start and stop times, or it is paid at a lesser fee (A141).
Common rejections
- AD3: OHIP describes this as 'Not allowed with visit': another assessment by you the same day is not payable with K180 (A141).
- A3H: More units were billed than OHIP allows; K180 is limited to 4 units per patient per day and 20 per year (A141).
