Hysterectomy with an anterior or a posterior vaginal repair, including enterocoele and/or vault prolapse repair when done.

What it covers

S759 is a hysterectomy (with or without adnexa) with anterior or posterior vaginal repair, including enterocoele and/or vault prolapse repair when rendered (V8). With both anterior and posterior repair, bill S758 (V8).

Billing rules

• Add E862 (+25%) when done laparoscopically or with laparoscopic assistance (V8).
• Add E090 when one or both ovaries with moderate or severe endometriosis are removed (V8).
• S722, S760, S812, S813, S738, S741, S745, S747, S780, S781 and S782 are not payable with S757, S816, S758, S759, S710, S763 or S762 (V8, note).
• A D&C is not payable with a hysterectomy (V1, rule 2).
• More than one procedure under the same anaesthetic (or within 14 days in the same admission for the same condition): the major procedure is paid in full and the others at 85% (SP2, §3).
• The surgical fee does not include the major pre-operative visit (where the decision to operate is made), which is billed separately; the surgeon can't bill the hospital admission assessment unless it is that visit (SP2, §1).
• Eligible for the E676 morbid obesity premium: BMI over 40 charted, general anaesthesia (SP6, SP7).
