Error code
C2 — Allowed at re-assessment fee
Paid at re-assessment fee
OHIP accepted the claim but paid it at the re-assessment fee instead of the amount or level billed.
What to do: Compare the payment with the Schedule re-assessment fee; if you billed a re-assessment, update your fee and don't resubmit.
- Code
- C2
- Description
- Allowed at re-assessment fee
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
OHIP paid this line at a re-assessment fee instead of the amount or level billed. Compare the payment with the allowed fee.
What it means
C2 means OHIP allowed the service at the re-assessment fee. The claim was accepted, but the payment was set at the fee allowed for a re-assessment, not at what was billed.
Often this is only a price correction. If the claim was billed above the Schedule of Benefits fee, OHIP pays the allowed fee and adds C2. The amount billed doesn't change what OHIP pays.
It can also mean OHIP paid a different, higher-level assessment as a re-assessment because the rules for the code billed were not met.
Common causes
- A fee billed above the current Schedule amount
- An out-of-date fee in the billing software
- A higher-level assessment billed when only a re-assessment was payable
How to fix it
- Compare the amount paid with the current Schedule fee for the re-assessment.
- If they match and you billed a re-assessment, OHIP has only corrected the price. Update the fee in your billing software if it is out of date. There is nothing to resubmit.
- If you billed a higher-level assessment or consultation and believe it met the requirements, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with the clinical details.
Don't resubmit if
- The paid amount matches the allowed fee.
- You want to rebill the same service at a higher amount. That would be a duplicate.
- You disagree with the level OHIP paid. Use an RAI.
How APEX handles it
APEX treats C2 as a code that can't be corrected and keeps it out of the Correction Centre queue, because OHIP has already set the allowed fee. See how APEX works · Pricing
