Error code
F1 — Additional fractures/dislocations allowed at 85%
Multiple fractures reduced
You billed more than one fracture or dislocation for this patient, so the major one is paid at 100% and the others at 85%.
What to do: Check the highest-fee fracture was paid at 100%; if not, send a remittance advice inquiry within 7 months.
- Code
- F1
- Description
- Additional fractures/dislocations allowed at 85%
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
F1: with more than one fracture or dislocation, the major one is paid at 100% and each other one at 85%. This is a standard reduction.
What it means
F1 means you billed more than one fracture or dislocation for the same patient, and OHIP paid the additional ones at 85%.
This follows the Schedule: in multiple fractures or dislocations, the benefit for the major one is 100% and the benefit for the others is 85% (Schedule N1, Fractures and Dislocations rule 5).
How to fix it
- Check that the fracture with the highest fee is the one paid at 100%.
- If the reduction was applied to the wrong line, or the services were separate episodes, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.
- Otherwise, there is nothing to fix.
Don't resubmit if
- The claim is already on your RA. Use an RAI, not a new claim, if you disagree.
How APEX handles it
