F2 — Allowed as transferred care
Paid at transferred-care rate

- Code
- F2
- Description
- Allowed as transferred care
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
F2: the fracture fee was paid at the transferred-care rate because another physician took over after-care. This is a standard reduction.
What it means
F2 means OHIP paid the fracture or dislocation service under the Schedule's transferred care rule.
When a patient is transferred to another physician for after-care of a fracture or dislocation treated by closed reduction or no reduction, the physician who gave the initial care gets 75% of the listed fee, and the physician giving later care bills visit fees. For open reduction, the initial surgeon gets 80%. If an attempted reduction under general anaesthetic fails and the patient is referred on for definitive care, the first physician gets 75% (Schedule N2, rule 8).
Common causes
- The patient's after-care was taken over by another physician
- A failed reduction under general anaesthetic, followed by referral to another physician
How to fix it
- Check whether the patient really was transferred to another physician for after-care.
- If you gave the after-care yourself, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with the chart notes.
- If the patient was transferred, the reduced payment is correct.
Don't resubmit if
- The claim is already on your RA. Use an RAI, not a new claim, if you disagree.
