- Code
- O6
- Description
- Labour induction/stimulation allowed once per pregnancy
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
O6 means medical induction or stimulation of labour is paid once per pregnancy, to one physician. It was already paid.
What it means
O6 means medical induction or stimulation of labour can be claimed only once per pregnancy by any one physician, for a recognized obstetrical complication. Detention can't be added (Schedule K2, note 9).
Common causes
- Induction billed a second time in the same pregnancy
- Another physician already billed induction
How to fix it
- Check whether induction (for example P023) was already paid for this pregnancy.
- If you believe the decision is wrong, send a Remittance Advice Inquiry (RAI) through eSubmit, or on form 0918-84, within 7 months of the RA date, with supporting details.
Don't resubmit if
- Induction was already paid for this pregnancy.
- The line is already on your RA. Question it with an RAI, not a new claim.
