- Physician Assistant (PA) claim cannot include other OHIP fee codes
Explanation
Updated October 26, 2026
PA1 means a Physician Assistant (PA) Pilot claim mixed PA tracking codes with other OHIP fee codes. Split them and resubmit.
What it means
Error PA1 means the claim was rejected as an invalid PA service. Under the Ministry's rules, a Physician Assistant (PA) Pilot claim may contain one or more PA tracking fee codes, but no other OHIP insured service fee codes on the same claim.
Common causes
- An insured service code was added to a claim submitted under the PA Pilot
- A PA tracking code was put on a regular claim with other services
How to fix it
- Separate the PA tracking codes from the other fee codes.
- Submit the PA tracking codes on their own PA Pilot claim, and the insured services on a regular claim under the right billing number.
- Resubmit within three months of the service date if you can. If that window has passed but the claim was first submitted on time, use the Ministry's stale-dated resubmission process.
Don't resubmit if
- The claim still has PA tracking codes and other OHIP fee codes together.
